Recommendations for the use of Insulating pressboard

May 12, 2020

Storage: Insulating pressboard (including the insulated processed parts) needs to be stored in a dry environment in order to maintain its excellent insulation performance.

Bending: When bending the pressboard, specially designed bending equipment is used. In order to prevent tearing damage caused by local stress, it is best to adjust the humidity of the pressboard with a thickness of more than 1 mm in advance. The moisture content is preferably 10% to 14%; wetting treatment and sufficient water balance process time are required before bending.

Cutting: When determining the processing size of the pressboard; it is necessary to consider the change in the geometric size caused by the moisture.

Sawing: Transformer cardboard is a material that can be processed by a variety of processing machines. Carbide or high-speed steel knives are considered to be efficient mechanical cutting tools. Board with a thickness of less than 3mm can be cut with a round knife or intermittent shearing machine, vertical and horizontal shearing machine. Processing thicker pressboard may cause unevenness and brittleness on the cutting surface. Pressboard with thickness above 4mm should be cut by saw or milling machine.

Punching: When punching and shearing the pressboard on the punching machine, a clamp with a spring unloading device should be used, the cutting angle should be small, and the gap between the two blades should be adjusted according to the thickness. When punching and shearing, the moisture content of the cardboard should better be controlled at 6%.

Drilling: When drilling the paperboard, the hole diameter is within 20mm, which can be processed on a general drilling machine; Φ20mm or more, it is advisable to pre-drill first, and then expand the hole with a boring and milling machine.

Planing: Carpentry or metal planers equipped with high-speed steel tools or carbide tools can be used for planing, and carbide milling tools can be used under heavy load.

Sanding: All the surface of the cardboard can be sanded with a sand belt polisher or a cylindrical sander. It is recommended to use quartz sand or white corundum sand belt or sand.
